"Accelerate Action" this International Women's Day






So, you want to take action, but how do you light that fire inside you to get started?



"Accelerate Action" is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day (coming this Saturday!) which speaks to the importance of timely and effective steps towards reaching gender equality lagging behind around the world.



To me, “Accelerate Action”  isn't just about grand, global movements (though those are vital), it’s also about the power we each hold in ourselves to create change, starting from within.  Each of us possesses a wealth of strengths, talents, and abilities we can develop and put into action. In my eyes, this is where self-care comes in. It’s fuel that allows us to shine, sustain our energy, and make a difference.



And just like a flame needs oxygen to burn, the environment and those around us can play an important role in stoking our fire.



When I think of some of the most significant milestones in my life, “girl power” comes to mind.  From my amazing sisters to attending an all-girl highschool run by phenomenal women,  my gaggle of great girl friends to the amazing Anna who works so hard for all of us to dance together,  the flames of transformation have so often been fanned by incredible women. Each has shown me the meaning  of female empowerment, the strength of a supportive community and the importance of nurturing my own talents to better the world.



Think about it: how can we lift up other people if we're running on empty? Dance fitness is my secret weapon. It's not just about physical strength; it's about filling up my own cup and building the resilience I need to take on things, no matter how big or small. In our classes, too, we create a ripple effect of empowerment, lifting each other up and celebrating our collective strength.



This International Women’s Day, let's celebrate you and the incredible women in our lives! Let's "Accelerate Action" by prioritizing our well-being and unleashing the power within.
