Rain or shine...

The forecast says 'dance!'

Exactly a year ago today, I wrote our weekly newsletter on fighting the weather whiplash that happens in March. Well it’s certainly back on my mind considering in the past couple weeks we’ve seen sun, torrential thunderstorms, cold, hot and even hail!!

It's definitely a challenge to stay motivated to keep at healthy habits with all these crazy fluctuations. It's so common to feel our energy levels affected by the weather and to let it dictate decisions like showing up to class.

When it's sunny and warm, getting ready for Zumba feels effortless to me– just throw on my workout clothes, grab my bag, and, boom, hop on my bike to and from class . When it's pouring rain, all I want to do is curl up on the couch with takeout!

But we can't wait for perfect conditions, right? Life rarely aligns perfectly. (Plus, I’m not about to cancel class knowing you are there waiting for me!)

So, how do we stay on track when the weather is unpredictable?

Here are a few tips that help me feel a bit more comfortable heading to class no matter what quick flip-flopping the weather might do!

  • Layer Up: You know those shirts instructors tie around their waists? It's not just a fashion statement! Bring layers to class – a long-sleeve or hoodie for warm-up, and you can shed it later–perfect for those quick temperature changes.

  • Pack Extra Clothes:  Nothing's worse than commuting home in sweaty workout clothes after class. I always keep an extra sports bra, shirt, and socks in my bag to stay more comfortable.

  • Insulated Water Bottle: Keep your drinks at the perfect temperature! Warm on chilly days, ice-cold on hot ones. Hydration is key!

  • Indoor-Only Shoes: Pack a clean pair of workout shoes for class. No more soggy feet from rainy commutes, and the studio floor stays cleaner!

  • Backup Plan: If you really can't brave the weather, have a backup! My online classes are perfect for a living room dance break. 10-minute to 1-hour options mean you can always find time to move.

Consistency is key! Don't let the weather throw you off your game. See you in class, rain or shine!

Keep moving!

xx,

Katie
