My 4 Holiday Health Takeaways

I Brought These Lessons Back from Holiday!

My three weeks of vacation in the US have come to an end– I’m back!  After having spent quality time with family and friends, having taken in the sights and enjoyed all my favorite treats, my gratitude tank is on full! 🥰 ⛽

Before I left for holiday, my intention was to feel as good as possible upon my return–mostly by embracing a balance of activity and rest. What I came back with was a refreshed perspective on prioritizing health no matter the time or place!

My 4 Holiday Health Takeaways :

1. Move for  life! One of the biggest highlights was seeing my biggest On-Demand Zumba Package fan (aka my mom!) for some in-person dancing together! In addition to doing classes like ‘Balance Boost” several times a week, she even got started on a strength training routine and I joined her online yoga class for mobility together. I was reminded that the real reward of working out is the ability to fully participate in life for years to come!

2. Try new things!  I stepped (and jigged)  out of my comfort zone when my little sister invited me to join her Irish dance class ☘️. Laughing at myself, stumbling, and trying my best to concentrate made for an unexpected and humbling workout for my body and mind😅. I learned once again that  trying new things is essential for growth and fun!

3. Get creative! I didn't have my dumbbells in the US, so I used paint cans as weights!😂 When I couldn't squeeze in a workout, I played tag and taught dance moves to my friends' kids. I shook off a long car ride with an oceanside walk with the family. These experiences showed me that with a little ingenuity movement can be incorporated into everyday life, creating even more memories along the way!

4. Simply slow down! The best moments of my trip were the simple or quiet ones: beautiful views, meaningful chats, and restful sleep. Prioritizing slowing down helped me savor experiences and appreciate the little things– something I sure want to bring back to my “real” life outside of vacation!

Coming back from vacation is rarely a breeze. Holidays feel so good because they are a break from the stresses and responsibilities of everyday life. But EVERY SINGLE ZUMBA CLASS gives me that same feeling!

Don’t forget to make your way back to the dance floor (or your living room) this week with me in class!

Keep moving!

xx,

Katie
