Happy Winter Solstice and Merry Christmas!
This year I saw an unprecedented amount of posts from people all over the world highlighting and celebrating the Winter Solstice. In Taiwan, people always celebrate Dongzhi Festival with activities such as eating sweet rice dumplings and gathering with family. In the midst of a difficult year for the whole world , a seemingly never ending rain spell in Taipei , and the darkest day of the year for our hemisphere, the knowledge that the days will become longer, the sun will come out again, and that 2020 will soon come to an end, brings us hope and resonates with people everywhere.
For many people, Christmas evokes a similar hope, that miracles and magic can be found in the unlikeliest of places. And while this year will no doubt seem different as more of us are separated from family, many grieve the loss of loved ones and relationships, or we may have to do without the usual Christmas comforts, the idea that something wonderful and joyful can come out of difficulty and darkness remains.
Wishing you a holiday season filled with hope for a brighter tomorrow! Happy holidays!
Keep moving!
xx,
Katie
