Brave Enough to Be Bold

The start of an exciting collaboration !

BRAVE enough to be BOLD.

FREE enough to FEEL.

STRONG enough to be SOFT.

CONFIDENT enough to CONNECT.

I AM ME . I AM ENOUGH.

If you’ve been following along with me on social media, you have probably seen this quote from me and the launch of my collaboration with AM ME Sporty as their September Woman Power Spokeswoman! This is a company I truly admire, as their goal is to provide beautiful, comfortable active wear to women of ALL shapes and sizes while also having a commitment to high quality, sustainable, Taiwan- made items. Their founder, Kayla, and team of warm, hardworking, focused women ( and an adorable rescue dog!) made our cooperation a natural fit. I really believe our community truly embodies this same spirit of inclusivity, feeling good about ourselves, and doing good for others!

In preparing for our collaboration, I spent a ton of time pouring over interview questions and digging deep into the purpose and passion behind my role as a dance fitness instructor. Have you ever taken the time to write out your own story of how you got to where you are today? I highly recommend it! It was so incredibly therapeutic to put down in words my journey of growing up dancing, coming to Taiwan, and the transformation I felt after rediscovering my love for dance, and wanting to share it with others.

“Brave enough to be bold.”

These were the first words that came to mind when thinking of my story. “Brave” is something I would never have defined myself as in the past. I was rather shy, liked to please others ( still do ;) ) and truthfully cried nearly the entire plane ride to Taiwan 16 years ago— a place I knew little of and knew no one. Looking at my moves over the past decade and a half, I’ve come to realize “brave” means doing those things that are difficult and which scare the crap out of you! It’s not letting insecurities stand in the way of showing who you are and being bold enough to just be you! Putting yourself out there, open to failure, open to others’ opinions or criticisms can be terrifying but as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

Truth is, bravery is a constant practice. Over time some things become easier or second-nature requiring less courage , but other insecurities are more persistent. Putting together photos, quotes, a poem, and videos for this month’s collaboration with AMME has certainly been another exercise in being brave enough to show all of you more parts of me in hopes that the transformative power of dance can reach even more people.

So, make sure you keep following along with me and AMME this month for more of my sharing, check out AMME’s full blog post here and don’t forget to use the code “KATIE” when making your purchase at ammesporty.com for a discount at the checkout!

Today, can you think of times in your life when you have been brave enough to be beautiful, bold you?

Xx,

Katie
